Attached is an application form for reimbursement of LTD premiums for retirees. There have been questions regarding employees who have retired since the LTD was put in place and whether they will receive the reimbursement similar to the LE.
Contractually, members who work and attain age 65 would not be eligible for LTD benefits, therefore there coverage should actually terminate 41 weeks (LTD elimination/waiting period) prior to their 65th birthday.
As such, the members would receive the premiums back when they were not eligible for coverage.
Since our members generally retire before their 65th birthday, we have incorporated the reimbursement to all members who retire regardless of their age.
